"A few months ago, back in December 2005, my wife wanted to buy a house. We were talking and a friend gave us Phong's name. I gave Phong a call, we talked and he listened to what we wanted. "First impressions are very important to me and the first call to a realtor would have been a "make or break" deal: Adam had me hooked. I wasn't really thinking about buying my own place but continuing to pay rent just seemed ridiculous. So just for fun, I searched a bit on the internet. I filled several contact information on various websites and before I knew it, Adam Maas had contacted me and we were chatting away. Of course, I had asked as many questions I could come up with, perhaps purposely testing Adam's patience level but he was extremely patient in answering all my questions. By the time we started looking at condominiums together, I couldn't believe it was actually happening. He continually reassured me from the start that he was "looking out for my best interest". "In September of 2005, I used Adam Maas as my Realtor to purchase my first home. Working with Adam was a genuine pleasure. Not only did he go out of his way to set up showings and make sure that the properties met my criteria, he would set up one location that I could meet him at. Then he would take on the responsibility of driving to each showing so that I could concentrate on evaluating and taking notes on each property that we looked at. Upon arriving at each showing I really appreciated Adams honesty. When he felt an owner was asking too much or the property did not meet our expectations from his initial screening he was quick to remove the property from our list of ones to consider and replace it with another. "Adam Maas did a tremendous job of leading us through the complicated business of buying our first home. He was patient and thorough in explaining the process, and was always available. If we left a message on his phone or sent him an email, he got back to us the same day, usually within an hour or two. His easy-going, no-pressure demeanor meant that we never felt foolish asking a question or taking our time in making a decision. "I started working with Ryan after I saw his ad in the classified section of the newspaper and visited his website. Prior to this, I had just read about real estate investing, I hadn’t actually bought anything. I was eager but didn’t really know the best way to begin.

Ryan worked with me for many months before I actually bought my first house. We set up financing and came up with an investment plan suited to my needs. Prior to meeting Ryan I had a mortgage broker that I was going to use. Ryan said I could use any mortgage source I wanted. He would work with me and help me in whatever way made me most comfortable. "Wow, what a great experience. I now sit here in front of my computer trying to figure out what I could possibly put in words to express how beneficial Ryan has been for me thus far. I have wanted to get into owning real estate for several years, but never felt comfortable to take that necessary next step. Like many others out there, I had and still have Carlton Sheets “No Down Payment” sitting on my shelf, but never put it into practice until I met Ryan. "My wife was very skeptical when I first started getting serious about investing in real estate. We went to a seminar in December of '04 put on by Ryan O'Neill and Rob Bonahoom that seemed to put her at ease and show her how we could increase our wealth over time. Then, when we found a place that we both liked, she started to get cold feet, and didn't want to part with the cash. I somehow talked her into purchasing the property (with the help of Ryan). Still, the most difficult task was at hand - getting it rented. I followed Ryan's plan to a T. Adds were placed in the Star-Trib, and with Rent Clicks.com. I never did get a call from the Tribune adds, however. All my leads came from Rent Clicks. Three young friends were very persistent about wanting to live at my property, and did everything asked of them (for screening purposes) in a very timely manner. We closed on July 28, 2005, and the renters moved in August 1, and so far things have worked out well. My journey began when I spotted this little ad in the Sunday Pioneer Press. Curious, I pulled up the web site and filled out the informational form which led to Rob at Cornerstone Mortgage. Meanwhile Ryan was inviting me to the seminars held at 350 Burnsville Parkway. I mention this only because it took me three attempts and 6 months to get to the first meeting ( I have problems). Ryan didn't let me slip through the cracks and kept in touch through e-mail, contiuning to invite me to other seminars and sending me the weekly ten tips. I think this shows his patience, persistence, mentoring and attention to detail. Soon thereafter, we met. I liked him immediately, especially his relaxed manner ( not slick). I could imagine the full plate he deals with and then when I found out more about his life, I was even more impressed and trusted him.

Now the "gameplan" was in place. A visit to the mortgage man, Rob. He gave me three options and recommeded one. I've already sent him my personal thank-you for his help and for the investing book he sent me. Ryan flooded my email with mls listings for a targeted type of single family home. I screened homes with another agent on Ryan's team, Victoria. She has rental property and serves the team well with her experience, energy and knowledge. I could tell she communicated well with Ryan. In June, I ended up buying a great first property and with comps well below value. My property was rented out before closing following the system that did work. He has a vested interest in your well being.

You know, when we first sat down together and started out looking for homes I really thought it was going to be another one of those deals where an agent was trying to put me in a home I didn't care for, and tell me 'if your credit was better we could get something a little better.' "We highly recommend the services of Bernie Borschke. We have been saving for our first home for a couple of years and attending open houses on weekends or whenever possible. On a whim, we made a private appointment to see a foreclosure. Bernie was the Realtor that was given our information and assigned to showing us this specific home. The home mentioned above was not right for us, but Bernie was extremely helpful in setting up appointments to view a dozen more homes in our area of interest, fitting into our price range and specifications. "The ad went into the Pioneer Press on Sunday (for our rental property). We had about 20 calls total that weekend. Everyone showed, which was shocking to me and gave us quite a bit to work with. I even had to turn some away. We narrowed it down to 3 candidates and ended up going with the best work history and bank account.
